Premature Baby Newborn Session - Studio

Hello everyone! Hope you are enjoying the sun! Here is a very cute newborn session done at our Vancouver Newborn Studio using props and different poses.

This was such a special session to photograph. This family was really interested in getting maternity and newborn photos done with us. But unfortunately mom had to go on bedrest and weren’t able to move forward with her pregnancy photos.

Then their baby arrived about a month early and had to be in NICU for a couple of weeks. Normally newborn sessions are done within the first 2 weeks after birth. But in circumstances like this we always do our best to work with the family and their unique birth story. Because this guy was premature he was born much smaller than full term babies, so we were totally okay waiting for him to grow a bit and gain his strength.

The parents updated me once the little guy was discharged and they brought him home. We had a conversation and picked a date which they felt comfortable with and that was early enough for us to still get all the cute poses! Baby Rian was 1 month old here when we did a newborn photos, which is very late for a regular newborn session. But it worked out perfectly for him and let me say he was such a great model for me!

He slept throughout the whole session and even though we did family and sibling photos we were able to finish the session earlier than usual! We couldn’t be happier with the photos! I am so so glad that we got to capture these images for the family, it meant a lot to them and it was so special to be a part of their journey!

PLEASE NOTE: Please do not leave your newborn session booking to last minute. This was a special circumstance and we were only able to do the photos at 1 month old because the baby was born premature. For full term babies we do NOT do the photos past 2 weeks. Please book your tentative date ahead of time.
